Commissioner needs time to study rate proposals

WARREN — Trumbull County commissioners have held off on instituting new water and sewer rates for the 21,000 households that receive those services from the county.

Commissioner Dan Polivka said he had just received a three-inch thick document from Gary Newbrough, the county sanitary engineer, on Wednesday that explained the rationale for raising rates in seven of the nine sewer and water districts. Polivka said he needed more time to study it.

Polivka had also asked Newbrough for statistics showing what Trumbull County’s costs would be compared to surrounding counties, so that he can determine whether the new rates are reasonable. Polivka said at Thursday’s regular commissioners meeting that Newbrough had just given him those statistics Thursday, and he needed time to study those, too.
