Ticket-fixing case delayed

WARREN — A trial that was to begin Monday for a former Warren detective charged with fixing a traffic ticket will be delayed about three weeks, while the detective takes a polygraph test — also known as a lie-detector test — that he hopes will clear him.

Atty. Jeff Goodman of Warren, who represents former detective Dewey Gray, 40, of Bristol-Champion Township Road in Bristolville, said Gray passed a test administered by private polygraph examiner Bill Evans of Akron.

Goodman said he believes a similar test to be given by Michael LoPresti, a polygraph test administrator for the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation on July 31, will result in charges being dropped.
