Howland schools name superintendent


HOWLAND – John Sheets, who has more than 27 years experience in education, has been named superintendent of the Howland School District.

Sheets, 50, of Cortland, takes over Aug. 1 for John Rubesich, who is leaving to become superintendent of the Ashtabula County Educational Service Center.

Sheets is coming here from the Grand Valley Local School District in Ashtabula County, where Rubesich served as suprintendent before moving to Howland schools in 2000.

Sheets will be paid $98,000 in the first year of a three-year-contract.
