Shock 87, Liberty 82

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Cheryl Ford had 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Deanna Nolan scored 21 points to help Detroit beat New York. Detroit’s Kara Braxton, the Eastern Conference’s starting center in the All-Star Game on Sunday, sat out with a sprained right ankle. Ford made sure the Shock didn’t miss her in their fourth straight win. Both teams had a chances to go ahead in the last minute, but Ford and Janel McCarville both missed short jumpers. Swin Cash had 19 for the Shock, who had three starters play at least 42 minutes. McCarville led five New York players in double figures with 17.

Fever 75, Sky 74

INDIANAPOLIS — Tamika Catchings had 22 points and 13 rebounds to help Indiana beat Chicago for its sixth-straight win. Catchings also had six assists for the Fever (16-4), who have the best 20-game start in Eastern Conference history. Tammy Sutton-Brown added 12 points and six rebounds for the Fever. Reserve guard Jia Perkins scored 24 points for Chicago and Candice Dupree added 12 points for the Sky, who lost their fifth straight.

Mystics 65, Comets 58

WASHINGTON — Alana Beard scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half to lead Washington to a comeback victory over Houston. Washington trailed by 14 at halftime but outscored Houston 17-1 — including a stretch of 11 straight points — during the last 5:59 to win its third straight. Washington’s Monique Currie had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and DeLisha Milton-Jones had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Tina Thompson led Houston with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
