Mahoning commish award pact for Spring Common Bridge

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners have awarded the two-year Spring Common Bridge rehabilitation project to Great Lakes Construction Co. of Hinckley, and work is to begin next week.

A public announcement concerning details of the construction schedule will be made at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mahoning Avenue end of the bridge, County Engineer Richard Marsico told the commissioners today.

With a bid of $5,164,226, Great Lakes edged out the only other bidder, A.P. O’Horo of Liberty, which bid $5,195,000.

The bridge spans the Mahoning River at the west end of the city’s downtown, linking Fifth Avenue and West Federal Street with Mahoning Avenue.
