Youngstown returns to 'zero tolerance' patrols

YOUNGSTOWN —  City police will resume the “zero tolerance” special interdiction patrols to crack down on all crime in the city.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and the Adult Parole Authority will again join the effort, Mayor Jay Williams said in a memo to city officials.

The patrols will be active between 1 and 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and again from July 31 through Aug. 4 during those same hours. Williams said authorities in neighboring communities were being informed of the patrols in an effort to coordinate enforcement activities.
