Youngstown to lease county land for water tank

YOUNGSTOWN — The transfer of Boardman land owned by Mahoning County to Youngstown for a new 1.5-million-gallon water tank raised objections by township officials.

But that’s no longer the case.

Youngstown City Council will consider legislation Wednesday permitting the city’s board of control to lease property on Erskin Avenue from the county.

The city and county have a tentative agreement that should be approved shortly, said Kathleen Slavens, the city deputy law director who negotiated the deal for Youngstown.

Boardman Trustee Kathy Miller is pleased the proposal is a lease and not a sale.
