STRUTHERS — Rich Tisone hit a bases-loaded triple in the last of the seventh inning to help Simon Roofing beat Fairborn Post #526, 13-12, Sunday in the Connie Mack baseball tournament.

Action in the 28-team, double-elimination tournament continues all day today beginning with three games at 10 a.m. at Cene Park.

Fairborn scored nine times in the top of the first inning and still led 12-10 entering the last of the seventh.

Simon loaded the bases with a lead-off hit batter, a single, a sacrifice and a walk to bring Tisone to the plate.

The leading hitters for Simon, now 2-0, were Frank LaRubbio (three hits), while Ross Revella, Mike Barone and Tisone all had two hits.

For Fairborn, Matt Addis, Tad Woodie, Kyle Combs and Jared Whited all had a pair of hits.

Dave Sugar 8, Team Ohio 6

The winners packed together four singles and an error to score five times in the top of the third inning to seize a 7-1 lead.

Mike Olenych went five innings while Jeremy Savaet threw two innings to get the save for Sugar.

The Sugar offense was paced by eleven singles with Justin Shaffer, Dane Dobson, Todd Finn and Mike Frasso with two hits apiece.

Brent Zajaczkowski had three hits for Team Ohio.

Astro Falcons 7, Ohio Orioles 2

The Astros had three two-run innings to remain undefeated.

Winning-pitcher Steve Schoenfeld allowed two runs in the first inning but regrouped to retire seven hitters in a row, twice.

A one-out triple by Joe Koch and a sacrifice fly helped the winners to tie the game 2-2.

The offense for Astro was led by Mike Dota with three hits.

For the Orioles, Brian Boland had two hits.

Livi Steel 1

A five-run first inning and a seven-run fourth by PBA eliminated Livi Steel.

Livi Steel was held to two hits, one each by Josh Swepis and Taylor Englebaugh.

Coty Bates worked the first five innings for the win. He gave up just one run and two hits, walking two and striking out four.

Andrew Hindershot had three hits.
