Second Harvest given $30,000

YOUNGSTOWN — Second Harvest Food Bank has been awarded $30,000 from the Raymond John Wean Foundation to expand the BackPack Program to Warren City Schools. Beginning the new school year, 150 students in Warren will take food home for the weekend in a backpack.

“Many youngsters in our community go without enough food to eat over the weekend”, said Mike Iberis, executive director for the Food Bank. “The main source of food for many of them is the school lunch programs. The generosity of the Wean Foundation quite literally means that hungry children will be fed”, he said.
