Man, 47, sentenced for 6th DUI
YOUNGSTOWN — A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to four months in a halfway house, followed by five year’s probation, and fined $800 after his sixth driving under the influence conviction since 2000.
Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the sentence Wednesday on Timothy J. Davis, formerly of Ravenna and Akron, who had pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol. Goshen Township police arrested Davis for his sixth DUI offense Aug. 2, 2006, on state Route 45.
Judge Krichbaum suspended Davis’ driver’s license for five years, with no possibility of occupational or other driving privileges for the first three years.
Davis, who has lived in a Cleveland substance abuse recovery facility for the past nine months, will serve his four-month sentence in residence in the Community Corrections Association halfway house on Market Street, where he will be in an addiction recovery program.
“I would feel that you’re on the way to recovery,” the judge told Davis before imposing the sentence, which was at the low end of the available sentencing range. Davis showed genuine remorse, the judge added.
