Dog owner arrested on 11 cruelty counts


YOUNGSTOWN — The man authorities say kept 11 malnourished dogs in his South Side home has been arrested.

Larry Lee, 55, formerly of Dearborn Avenue, was arrested this afternoon by city police. He was initially transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center because he complained of chest pains. He was treated and then taken to the Mahoning County Jail.

Last week, agents with Animal Charity removed the which then had to be euthanized.

An anonymous caller told Animal Charity that there had been two dogs tied separately outside a run-down home that didn’t have any running water.

John Hall, humane agent, removed the two dogs and when questioning Lee, Lee turned over nine more. Lee faces 11 counts of animal cruelty.
