Putko’s big game helps propel Roth

YOUNGSTOWN — Jim Putko had three hits including a double and drove in three runs to lead Roth Brothers to a 9-6 victory over Penn-Ohio Monday in Youngstown AA action at Pemberton Park.

Eric Jones’ two hits included a triple and he scored twice for Roth.

Also with two hits were Adam Cox and Joe Marzano. Joe Bettura drove in two runs while John Hay gave up four hits and two runs in the five innings he pitched to earn the victory.

For Penn-Ohio, Kevin Libeg took the loss.

Warren AA

WARREN — Steven Hughes and Brandon Keck teamed up to pitch Girard Hardware to a 4-2 victory over Skiffey Neopolitan Dental.

Hughes gave up three hits in six innings to get the win. Mark Brown doubled and scored twice. Jason Darocha and Joe Cvengros had RBIs while Matt Vukovic doubled.

For Skiffey, Mike Hanck’s two hits included a double.

Mahoning Valley 5

Cliff Panezich and Nick Zajackowski each had two hits. Panezich drove in three runs. One of his hits was a double.

Mike Swoboda scattered seven hits to earn the complete-game win.

For Mahoning Valley, Torrie Frangiamore had three hits and two RBIs. Rick DiMuzio had two hits.
