Downtown Warren has power failure

WARREN — Power was off in the city’s downtown area for about an hour Saturday morning.

The police department and downtown fire stations were using backup generators after a minivan hit a utility pole in the 2200 block of Pine Avenue near Burton Street at 8:25 a.m., the fire department said. There were no injuries.

Police apprehended the driver walking away from the scene on Burton Street a few minutes after the crash, and firefighters barricaded some streets because of nonfunctioning traffic signals, the fire department said.
