Veterinary graduate

Michael S. McGinley has received a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He is the son of Renee Harris of Salem and Thomas McGinley of Warren. McGinley is a 1997 graduate of Liberty High School and a 2001 graduate of Youngstown State University. He is a member of Phi Zeta, the honorary society for veterinary medicine. He will be moving to Anderson, S.C., where he will begin his practice.

Osteopathic degree given

David Dionisio has received a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He will begin a three-year residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus. He received a bachelor’s degree in 2003 from Kent State University and is a 1998 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. He is the son of Nick and Marcy Dionisio of Austintown.

Medical degree earned

Courtney R. Carson has received her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine. Dr. Carson is a graduate of Springfield Local High School, where she was co-valedictorian of the class of 1999. She graduated magna cum laude with college honors from John Carroll University, University Heights in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in chemistry, minoring in biology, with a concentration in bio-chemistry.

She will do her residency training in pediatrics at Columbus Children’s Hospital of Ohio State University. She is the daughter of Bob and Rhonda Carson of New Middletown.

PHARMACISTS

Doctor of pharmacy

Michelle L. Morrison has received a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Baltimore, Md. She is the daughter of Curtis and Deborah Morrison of Berlin Center. She is a 2001 graduate and salutatorian of Western Reserve High School. She was also a member of the track team for two years at the University of Cincinnati where she did her pre-pharmacy work. Morrison has taken a position with Wal-Mart in the Charlotte, N.C., area in the fall.

PH.D

Language doctorate

Nancy E. Wardle, daughter of Edward and Barbara Wardle of Austintown, has received her doctorate of philosophy in French and Italian from Ohio State University.

After graduating from Austintown Fitch High School, she studied French and history at Youngstown State University. She completed her bachelor’s degree with magna cum laude honors. She was then accepted into Kent State University’s master’s degree program, where she studied French translation. During her second year at KSU, she was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious school, L’Ecole de la Traduction et d’Interpretation at the Universite de Geneve in Geneva, Switzerland, for 10 months.

After completing her master’s degree, Wardle received an assistantship from OSU. While there, she taught classes in French and tutored students at the International Instruction Center. She also was an adjunct professor at Ohio Dominican University in Sunbury, where she taught French and cross-cultural communications.

HONORS

Biomedical science award

The Outstanding Biomedical Science Award was presented to Andrew Razzano of Niles for his superior performance in basic science and research dealing with growth hormone and the insulin-like growth factor axis, which he presented at the Endocrine Societies National Conference in San Diego.

Razzano attended the Distinguished Osteopathic Commitment Awards at Ohio University’s Baker Center earlier this year for the award presentation.

He is entering his third year in Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and received his undergraduate degree from OU. His parents are Andy and Carrie Razzano of Niles.
