Stabbing suspect, 55, arraigned

LIBERTY — Bond has been set at $30,000 for a Youngstown man accused of stabbing his wife with a screwdriver.

Larry Wayne Riley, 55, of Castalia Avenue was arraigned Thursday in Girard Municipal Court before Judge Michael Bernard. He is charged with felonious assault.

According to police reports, Riley and his 52-year-old wife were sitting in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Belmont Avenue discussing finances when an argument began.

Riley’s wife told officers she tried to get out of the vehicle, but Riley grabbed her to keep her inside and began stabbing at her with a screwdriver.

Reports say officers witnessed two stab marks on the woman’s neck. She was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Riley was pulled over and arrested a short distance from the parking lot where the incident took place.
