Scrappers snap five-game skid
Jansy Infante had five hits as Mahoning Valley beat
Jamestown 11-6.
NILES — Jansy Infante went 5-for-5, scoring two runs and driving in two to help the Mahoning Valley Scrappers snap a five-game losing streak with an 11-6 victory over the Jamestown Jammers in front of 3,295 fans in a New York-Penn League game Wednesday at Eastwood Field.
It was Military Night at the stadium and the Scrappers wore special camouflage uniforms. All military personnel got a free ticket to the game.
Juan Valdes added two hits, including a homer, drove in three runs and scored four times for the Scrappers (7-9), who are four games behind State College in the Pickney Division standings.
Matt Brown also had two hits and drove in a run for Mahoning Valley, which scored five runs in the second inning to take a 7-1 lead entering the third.
Mark Thompson scored two runs and stole a base.
Joanniel Montero (1-1) gave up two runs in two innings of relief to get the win.
Jamestown starter Alejandro Sanabia (0-1) surrendered nine runs (six earned) on eight hits with three walks for the Jammers (5-11), who are in last place in the Pickney Division, six games back.
