Niles police investigating two attempted rapes

NILES — Police are investigating two attempted rapes in the city. A 34-year-old woman told police she was at a tavern when her boyfriend had to leave.

At about 3:30 a.m. today, she was leaving when a man offered her a ride home. She told police she was driven to a location she couldn’t recognized. The man told her to get out of the car and he began to remove her clothes. As she was forced onto hood of the car, men on four all-terrain vehicles drove up as she screamed. Her assailant drove off and she was given a ride home by one drivers of the ATV drivers.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday,   29-year-old Niles woman she was walking to a Grant Street bar when three men pulled up in a car, got out and fondled her near the railroad tracks at Mahoning Avenue and Langley Street. She told police she managed to get away and ran to a friend’s Pratt Street home to call authorities.
