Earned Eagle award

Travis John Kneen, son of Timothy and Linda Kneen, of Canfield, received his Eagle Scout award at a court-of-honor ceremony in the Brown Pavilion, Stambaugh Scout Reservation, Canfield.

Travis was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25 from 1997 through 2000 at Canfield United Methodist Church. where he attained the highest rank of Webelos and received the Arrow of Light award.

He joined Boy Scout Troop 25 at Canfield United Methodist Church in February 2000. His Scoutmaster is Kevin Prus. He has held the positions of senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, guide and historian. He earned 22 merit badges and special awards include: Fifth Year Pipestone, Gettysburg Historic Trail Award, BSA Lifeguard, Ad Altari Dei and Pope Pius XII Religious Awards, Mile Swim, and 50 Miler Award.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised renovation of a storage closet into an office for a new administrator at Beatitude House Potter’s Wheel. The work included removal of a tile floor, installation of vinyl floorboard, painting and the construction and installation of a large bookshelf.

He is a 2007 graduate of Canfield High School, where he was a member of National Honor Society, swim team, German Club, Key Club, Film Club and Envirothon Eco Team. He received awards as All-MAC and All-NEAC swimmer, was captain of the swim team and four-year varsity letter winner.

He will attend the University of Rochester, where he will major in astrophysics. He is also a member of St. Michael Church, Canfield.

PHARMACISTS

Doctor of pharmacy

Krista M. Petrolla, daughter of James and Darlene Petrolla of Poland, has received her doctor of pharmacy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy. Petrolla attended Youngstown State University with a focus on chemistry pre-pharmacy before taking up study at LECOM. She was an active member of the student body, secretary of student government and a member of the American Pharmacists Association. She is a 2002 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. She is spending three weeks in Nairobi, Kenya, on a medical mission trip with LECOM medical students. Petrolla has taken a position as a pharmacist with CVS Pharmacy and will begin working this fall in Cleveland.

Receives degree from OSU

Bradley T. Heffron has received his doctor of pharmacy degree from Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He received his bachelor’s degree from Walsh College, Canton, in 2002, and is a 1998 Austintown Fitch High School graduate. He has accepted a pharmacist’s position with Kroger Pharmacy in Columbus. He is the son of James and Debra Heffron of Austintown.

LAWYERS

Receives juris doctorate

Ralph M. Rivera, a 1998 graduate of Ursuline High School and 2002 graduate of Youngstown State University, received his juris doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University, last month.

Rivera was an executive editor for the Journal of Law and Health and published “The Mentally Ill Offender: A Brighter Tomorrow Through the Eyes of the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2004.” While at Cleveland-Marshall, he was also a member of the dean’s list. Rivera is the husband of Candace Rivera and they have two children, Jaden and Sophia. Atty. Rivera is the son of Tom and Marilyn Blackstone and the late Ralph E. Rivera.

OSU Moritz graduate

Wendy Pfau received her juris doctorate at a graduation ceremony at Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Pfau graduated from Canfield High School in 1999 and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from OSU in 2004. She participated in the OSU Summer Law Program in June and July 2005 at Oxford University in England. Pfau is the daughter of Atty. and Mrs. William Pfau III of Canfield. She is living in Sacramento, Calif.
