McDonald Steel pact talks continue

LIBERTY — Contract negotiations for McDonald Steel and its 96 union members went well into Saturday night at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex.

As of 10 p.m., no agreement had been reached, according to a company spokesman. The previous five-year contract with the company’s joint Teamsters and United Steel Workers of America unions expired at midnight.

Both sides refused to comment on the issues or if progress was being made in negotiations when contacted earlier in the day. Negotiations have been ongoing for about a month.

McDonald Steel is the former U.S. Steel McDonald Works.
