MESOPOTAMIA — The Mesopotamia Volunteer Fireman’s Association’s 34th annual ox roast, antiques and flea market will be Friday, Saturday and July 8 at the intersection of state Routes 534 and 87. In addition to the roast beef sandwiches, there will be more than 160 dealers and live entertainment each day. Pancakes will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. daily in the fire station by the Bloomfield-Mespo cheerleaders. Roast beef will be served daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A horseshoe tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday. Admission and parking are free. About 75 percent of the money raised will be used for fire department operating costs and new equipment. The department is now raising money to replace a 1984 Mini-Pumper with a new one in 2008. Meeting rescheduled

SALEM — City council has changed the date of its July meeting because of the July 4 holiday. Instead of meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, council will now meet at 7 p.m. July 10 in council chambers, 231 S. Broadway, said council clerk Judy Allio.

Park benefit ride, walk

LEETONIA — Friends of the Park/Little Beaver Creek Greenway Tail will host a benefit ride and walk from 1 to 4 p.m. July 8. The group is a registered nonprofit organization. All donations are tax deductible. These help to maintain the trail and Scenic Vista Park. Registration tables will be at trail heads at state Route 164 in Lisbon, state Route 558 in Franklin Square and Washington Street in Leetonia. Individuals determine the length of their ride or walk. A $5 contribution per participant helps defray costs encountered in maintaining the trail at a level desired by its users. For a $10 donation, participants will receive an event T-shirt. Water and snacks will be provided. Memberships are available to the Friends of the Park. An individual membership is $15 a year, and a family membership is $25. Free GED practice test

BOARDMAN — Mahoning County Career and Technical Center is offering the official General Equivalency Diploma practice test at no cost and on a walk-in basis at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Educational Resource Center in Southern Park Mall. Participants must be at least 18, not enrolled in high school and have an Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card. 2nd annual bike run

AUSTINTOWN — The Mahoning County Salvation Army’s second annual motorcycle run will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the Mahoning County Salvation Army’s programs. Registration for this event will begin at 11 a.m. at Harley Davidson Bike Town Road in Austintown. It will end at the Salvation Army at 1501 Glenwood Ave. in Youngstown. The cost to ride is $10 for the first rider and $5 for the second rider. There will be food, prizes, T-shirts, a silent auction and a live band. Donations may be made to The Salvation Army, P. O.
