January 31, 1932: A 17-year-old South Side youth faces manslaughter charges after running a red light and striking and killing a pedestrian, Idwal Hughes, at Woodland Avenue and Market Street. The driver fled the scene and led police on a wild chase through downtown before being captured near City Hall.
