Telethon raises 108,262 for United Way



YOUNGSTOWN -- Five area United Way organizations in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania raised 108,262 on Monday during the Rally for the Valley telethon.
JoAnn Stock, Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way director of marketing and resource development, said she considers the telethon a success. Stock coordinated the event, which aired live from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on WYTV Channel 33.
United Way agencies from Mahoning,Trumbull and Northern Columbiana counties in Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania conducted a business blitz and phone-a-thon. Before the event, the five had raised 5,481,920, or 84 percent of their combined 6.5 million goal.
