Hubbard tops Lakeview; Brookfield remains on top

CORTLAND -- The Hubbard High girls basketball team jumped out to a 38-30 lead in Monday's third quarter then hung on for a 55-49 victory.
Tressa Scahill scored 21 points for the Eagles (10-4, 5-3 Trumbull Athletic Conference) while Maggie Bogdan added 13.
Lakeview suffered just its second league loss. Alynn Martin paced the Bulldogs (11-3, 6-2) with 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Joanna Novotny chipped in with 15 points.
Brookfield 46, Girard 18
BROOKFIELD -- The Warriors, who are unbeaten 8-0 in the TAC, improved to 13-1 overall.
Brookfield held the Indians to two points in the first quarter, one in the second and five in the third in cruising to the victory.
Morgan Bonekovic scored 13 points for Brookfield. Lauren Gentile grabbed five rebounds while Kay Haywood had four assists.
Liberty 52, LaBrae 29
LIBERTY -- Michelle Dykes and Brianna Pettway combined for 29 points in the Leopards' TAC victory.
The Leopards took a 14-4 lead in the first quarter and were in command 31-12 at intermission.
Dykes, who connected on four three-points goals, sparked the Leopards with 17 points. Pettway chipped in with 12.
Emily Potter led the Vikings with 10 points.
Bristol 47, Lordstown 39
LORDSTOWN -- Bristol, which trailed 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, outscored Lordstown 14-9 in the second period and 8-4 in the third, then held on for the victory.
Ashley Fieft sparked Bristol with 13 points. Brianna Blodgett led the Red Devils (3-9) with 22 points.
