RAINY DAY IN YOUNGSTOWN: An areawide flood in late January 1959 began with a 2.25 inch downpour. Communities throughout eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania were flooded for days as rivers overran their banks. This unlucky, unidentified motorist -- barefoot and shivering -- was photographed trying to restart the engine of his car in Gypsy Lane. The photo ran 48 years ago, on Jan. 21, 1959.
