Browns pick offensive coordinator
BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) - Rob Chudzinski did not want to wait to find out if the San Diego Chargers would promote him.
Chudzinski on Saturday left the Chargers to become the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns.
The same position became open in San Diego when Cam Cameron was named coach of the Miami Dolphins on Friday.
Chudzinski, a native of Toledo, Ohio, spent the last two years as the Chargers' tight ends coach. He previously served as the Browns' tight ends coach in 2004 under coach Butch Davis and was the offensive coordinator for the final five games under interim coach Terry Robiskie.
Maurice Carthon resigned as Browns offensive coordinator after a 17-7 loss to Denver on October 22. Jeff Davidson took over the position for the rest of the season, but the Browns ranked 31st overall in offense and averaged just 14.9 points per game.
