Workers join UAWat Quality Industrial
LORDSTOWN -- Hourly workers at the Lordstown plant of Quality Industrial Services have voted to join the United Auto Workers. About 65 percent of the 100 hourly workers voted in favor of unionizing Thursday, said Jim Graham, president of the UAW Local 1112, which represents workers at the General Motor's car plant in Lordstown.
Graham said the workers will be assigned to a UAW local after negotiating their first contract but most likely it would by Local 1112. The company is based in Michigan and has unionized work forces at some of its plants. The local provides warehousing and sorting services for manufacturers.
Accounting firmsannounce merger
BOARDMAN -- The Hermitage, Pa., accounting firm of Libeg, Gargano, Bell & amp; Associates has agreed to merge with Boardman-based Hill, Barth & amp; King.
"The combination of our resources with HBK's will both enhance our traditional accounting services and provide the availability of specialized services to our clients," said Thomas Libeg, principal of the Hermitage firm.
Based on revenues, HBK is ranked as the 57th-largest public accounting firm in the nation.
F.N.B. Corp. reports4th-quarter earnings
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- F.N.B. Corp. earned 17.6 million, 29 cents a share, in the fourth quarter, compared with 4.7 million, 8 cents a share, in the same quarter last year.
The 2005 fourth-quarter results included after-tax charges of 11 million, or 19 cents a share, related to the corporation's balance sheet restructuring, efficiency initiatives and merger costs.
First National Bank of Pennsylvania, an F.N.B. subsidiary, announced that its customers now can receive same-day credit for deposits made at any branch during the branch business hours. The Hermitage-based bank, which has operations in Ohio and Pennsylvania, said same-day availability will simplify recordkeeping. Transactions will be posted at the end of the business day, instead of at an earlier midday cutoff time.
Ribbon-cutting setfor salon in Canfield
CANFIELD -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 11 a.m. today at Magnolias on the Green Salon, 79 N. Broad St. Carolyn Cappabianca Cruz, a Mahoning Valley native, recently opened the salon after returning here from Orlando, Fla. She has 22 years' experience as a hairstylist. Her father and grandfather owned Jack's Barber Shop in Youngstown.
Timken will expandsteel rolling mill
CANTON -- The Timken Co. said it plans to spend about 60 million to expand production at its steel rolling mill, an investment that could create around 30 new jobs by next year. Construction should begin in June and end in mid-2008 on a 76,000-square-foot addition to the company's Harrison Steel Plant in its headquarters city, Timken said.
