Woman sentenced to 5 years in police assault

WARREN -- The driver of the car from which a gunman fired at two Warren police officers in an ambush-style attack in 2005 was sentenced to five years in prison.
Taquandra Alexander, 20, of 364 Fourth St., was sentenced last week in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on two counts of complicity to commit felonious assault. She was sentenced to five years on each count, to be served at the same time.
Alexander was driving a car from which Kalen Watson fired a high-powered rifle at Warren police detectives Melanie Gambill and Dave Weber on Sept. 22, 2005, while the detectives were working a narcotics detail at the Hampshire House Apartments on Fifth Street Southwest.
The shots flew over the detectives' heads, hitting the taillight of their car, the area behind the car and a building across the street. Police said at least 10 shots were fired.
Watson received 13 years in prison at his sentencing last year.
