Teacher and husband face drug charges

WARREN – A long-time Warren City Schools teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after being charged with a drug offense.

Willie R. Redd, 54,   of Tait Road, Lordstown, will remain on leave pending the outcome of her court case, Dawn Marzano, school district spokeswoman, said Wednesday.

Redd may be arraigned Thursday in Newton Falls Municipal Court on a charge of permitting drug abuse, a misdemeanor.

Redd is paid $54,056 as a special education teacher at Alden Elementary.

Her husband, Stanley E. Redd Sr., 54, is free on a $100,000 bond. He appeared Tuesday in the Newton Falls court on a charge of possession of drugs, a felony. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.   Jan. 25.

Lordstown police Detective Chris Bordonaro said the charges are the result of a search of the Redd home in which drugs were found.

He would not say what type of drugs were discovered nor the amount.

The Redds have an unlisted number and couldn’t be reached for comment.

Stanley Redd was arrested Monday at a Youngstown Road business in Warren by Lordstown and Warren police and members of the U.S. Marshal Service’s Youngstown Violent Fugitive Task Force.

He has been under investigation, but Bordonaro would not say for how long.
