Newton Falls defeats Brookfield for 3-1 TAC record



NEWTON FALLS -- Matt Dillon scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds Tuesday as the Newton Falls High basketball team won its third straight game by defeating Brookfield, 58-49.
Marcus Fowler also had nine rebounds and scored 13 points for the Tigers (5-4, 3-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference). Cameron McCleary scored nine points.
Newton Falls has won four of its past five games and will play at Hubbard on Friday.
For the Warriors (4-5, 1-3), Chad Kostra scored 17 points. Also connecting in double figures for Brookfield were Kevin Martin (14) and Billy Hogue (10).
Liberty 72, Champion 56
LIBERTY -- Mychal Doblanski and Jason White each scored 21 points for the Leopards (7-3, 2-2 TAC).
The Leopards took a 20-11 lead in the first quarter and increased that margin to 43-23 by intermission.
Doblanski pulled down eight of Liberty's 32 rebounds and had four assists.
Tyler Kish led the Golden Flashes with 17 points. Katrell Jones added 11 points and he grabbed five of Champion's 18 rebounds.
LaBrae 81, Hubbard 68
LEAVITTSBURG -- Mike Ryan scored 24 points for the Vikings.
Eric Hart and Bryan Watkins each scored 11 for LaBrae, which travels to Lakeview on Friday.
For the Eagles, Corey Hitt scored 25 points while Frank Rosile hit for 11.
