Ollie McCurdy wins Oscars contest

Two contestants tied for the most correct answers in the Vindicator’s annual Oscar Poll contest.

Ollie McCurdy of Austintown and William Hansen of Youngstown each correctly picked 15 of the 20 categories. McCurdy was awarded first place in a random drawing in accordance with contest rules, leaving second place to Hansen. The Academy Awards were Sunday night.

McCurdy wins a $150 gift certificate to Kraynak’s and $100 gift certificates from Julia’s Bed and Breakfast, Coonce’s Full Circle Florist and The Winner. Hansen wins $100 gift certificates from Kraynak’s, Julia’s, Coonce’s and The Winner.

“I’ve been a film buff most of my life,” said McCurdy, who has entered the Vindicator’s Oscar contest before but never won.
