YSU beats Detroit, advances in Horizon League tourney
YOUNGSTOWN — Back in August when the Youngstown State men’s basketball team first reported for workouts, second-year coach Jerry Slocum sat down with his two seniors and talked about attainable goals for the team this season.
One of those goals was to be able to play host to a first-round postseason tournament game at Beeghly Center.
Tonight night the Penguins achieved that goal, and behind those two seniors, Quin Humphrey and Keston Roberts, pulled out an 82-80 victory over Detroit to advance to the Horizon League quarterfinals Thursday in Dayton.
