JFS move to Oakhill will be moved back

YOUNGSTOWN — A lawsuit by a division of the Cafaro Co. and other factors will delay the move of the Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services to Oakhill Renaissance Place until late fall, according to the county building commission chairman and a project architect.

“There’s no way” the initial goal of a June 1 move-in date can be met, said Tracie A. Kaglic, an architect with Olsavsky-Jaminet Architects of Youngstown. That firm is planning the renovation of 94,000 square feet at Oakhill for JFS at a cost of $4,830,000.

Speaking after Tuesday’s building commission meeting, Kaglic cited the taxpayers’ lawsuit against Mahoning County filed by the Ohio Valley Mall Co. and the building commission’s 21 „2-month process of selecting a project architect. JFS now occupies rented quarters in OVM’s Garland Plaza, 709 N. Garland Ave.
