ASTHMA Ohio stats



From 1999 to 2003, the age group with the highest hospital discharge rate for asthma patients was children under 5. The incidence of asthma is higher for blacks and the poor. Other 2004 asthma statistics are:
50.6 percent of children with asthma had an asthma episode or attack, and 24.1 percent had an emergency room visit.
The prevalence of asthma is 50 percent higher for blacks than whites.
Ohioans making 15,000 or less a year are three times as likely to have asthma as those making more than 50,000 a year.
