Family dinner held to mark Romano 50th



HILLSVILLE, Pa. -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert Romano, 3570 E. Main St., were the honored guests at a dinner party held Feb. 18 at the Golden Corral in Boardman in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the festivity were the couple's children and their spouses, Michelle and Ed Benton of New Castle, Pa., and Regina and Doug Kastner and Rob and Frances Romano, all of Hillsville. There are also 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild in the family.
As part of their anniversary celebration, the couple took their children and their spouses on an Alaskan cruise in June 2006, and then they went on a 17-day cruise to South America in January.
The couple are lifetime members of St. Lawrence Church, where they were united in marriage Feb. 23, 1957. The church is now Christ the King Parish, St. Lawrence Church.
Mrs. Romano, the former Marcelline Shuluga, was a school-bus driver for the Mohawk Area Schools in Bessemer, Pa., for 28 years prior to retiring in 2006.
Mr. Romano retired as operations manager with Cummins Interstate Power in Hubbard after 33 years of service.
