Coffee and contemplation
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center will offer another session in its Coffee and Contemplation series from 9:30 to 11:30 am. March 6. Sister Marguerite Holz, a retreat presenter, will offer "Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God!" The cost of the program is 5 and the program and lunch are 11.75. Penny rally planned
STRUTHERS -- The Aureola Wilson Women's Missionary Society of St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 97 W. Washington St., will host its annual penny rally Sunday. It will begin with the morning worship service at 11 a.m., followed by a heritage dinner and conclude with a praise and worship service at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served until 2:30 p.m. Rachel Terry is the society president and the Rev. Quartet to perform
AUSTINTOWN -- One Less Stone, a Southern gospel quartet from central Ohio, will be in concert at the 10:15 a.m. worship service Sunday at First Free Will Baptist Church of Austintown, 5530 New Road. They earned first place in the 2005 Talent Search (Group Division) at the National Quartet Convention and also were winners of the National Quartet Convention singing competition in 2005.
Fellowship banquet
HUBBARD -- Jesus is the Way World Outreach Ministries, 319 Goldie Road, Liberty, will sponsor a Christian family fellowship banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Brentford House, 737 Myron St. Pastor Steve DeVito of Brookfield will speak. Reservations must be made by Thursday by calling (330) 759-2950. The cost is 10 for those 13 and older and 6 for 5- to 12-year-olds.
Women's Day concert
WARREN -- The Women of Grace African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1137 Main Ave. S.W., will host a Women's Day concert at 4 p.m. March 4 at the church. Featured at the free event will be the women's choir and men's chorus.
Play at church
WARREN -- The drama team of New Jerusalem Fellowship, 2555 Palmyra Road S.W., will present "Willy Lynch Theory," at 6:30 p.m. today. Carlos Rush, playwright and director, and staff will perform. The event is free.
Wednesday programs
MINERAL RIDGE -- First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will offer an evening of fellowship, worship and study Wednesdays during Lent. Dinner will be prepared each week by a church committee and will be served from 6 to 6:45 p.m. in fellowship hall. After dinner, there will be a brief worship service. The theme for these services will be "Why Did Jesus Die?" The hall will be turned into a modern courtroom as biblical characters come to life and appear before judge and jury. The family-oriented service will conclude by 7:30 p.m. Child care will not be provided. A 30-minute discussion will follow for those who wish to participate.
Speaker at church
WARREN -- New Vision Christian Church Center, 2500 Mahoning Ave., will have its 2007 school of the spirit graduation service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Keynote speaker will be prophet Stanley Jack of Columbus.
Lunch and learn
BOARDMAN -- St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, will have its Lunch While You Learn series from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays in the St. Mark Room. Programs planned are: next week, Sister Mary Alyce Koval, principal of St. Charles School; March 7, Vince Bevacqua, WYTV news anchorman; March 14, Renee Battafarano, director of Court Appointed Special Advocates; March 21, Aimee Morrison, an instructor at Ursuline High School; and March 28, Atty. Kathi McNabb Welsh. Those attending should take a lunch; beverages will be provided.
Meditation-recital series
SHARON, Pa. -- St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St., will present the first of its Lenten meditation-recital series at noon Tuesday at the church. The program will open with carillon music followed by meditation and recital with Elizabeth A. Harrison performing. She is an assistant professor of music at Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa.
