Grove City ousts Titans in PAC tourney semifinal



The Wolverines will play W & amp;J in the PAC championship game Saturday.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Mark Smith scored 20 points, Shawn Carr had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Grove City shocked regular-season champion Westminster 86-67 in the semifinals of the Presidents' Athletic Conference basketball tournament Thursday.
The Wolverines (15-12) advanced to the championship game Saturday against Washington & amp; Jefferson, which upset No. 2 seed Bethany 78-75.
Ryan Gibson had 17 points for Grove City, which shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) in the second half to pull away from a 36-36 tie at halftime. The Wolverines shot 54.2 percent (26-of-48) for the game.
Ryan Gerber finished with 10 points and Craig Hallman had nine points and 13 rebounds.
Greg Rosatelli scored 23 points to lead Westminster (18-8) and Steve Bielich had 18 points and nine rebounds.
The Titans shot 35.4 percent (23-of-65) for the game.
Washington & amp; Jefferson 78, Bethany 75
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Josip Lucic-Jozak had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Presidents (14-13) into the championship game. W & amp;J, the No. 3 seed, will play host to No. 4 seed Grove City Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Wahab Owolabi added 21 points, while Brandon Studer and Jon Koch had 10 each for W & amp;J.
Brody Jackson had 21 points for Bethany (19-8), while Marcus Adams had 14 points and five assists. Marc Palermo (Ursuline) finished with 11 points and James Wallace had 10 points and five rebounds.
Women
BEXLEY -- Alicia Williams had 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting, but Mount Union fell to Capital 52-39 in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
Ashley Ross had 10 rebounds for the No. 6 seed Purple Raiders (14-12).
Heather McAlpin scored 10 points for No. 2 seed Capital (19-6), while Daniele Manalac and Caitlin Graessle each scored nine.
