WRTA wants to hear from riders

YOUNGSTOWN — Officials at Western Reserve Transit Authority say route consolidation and cuts in service are inevitable, but they are looking to hear from the bus-riding public before any decisions about service cuts are made.

Jim Ferraro, WRTA executive director, said WRTA officials will listen to public opinion on what cuts should be made at a meeting at 1 p.m. March 2 in the WRTA offices on Mahoning Avenue near the downtown.

Ferraro said the busing system lost grants and other funding totaling about $2 million, making the cuts necessary. He said WRTA is considering a 20 percent cut in services.
