Victorian Players presenta Farndale mystery
YOUNGSTOWN -- Victorian Players Theatre will present "The Haunted Through Lounge and Recessed Dining Nook at Farndale Castle" for two weekends, beginning March 2. The ladies of the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society make yet another spectacle of themselves in this play, written by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin Jr. The murder-mystery comedy is guaranteed to bring the house down -- or at least a substantial part of the set. As a bonus, the annual Farndale Laureate will be chosen from the three finalists in the Poetry Reading Competition.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 2, 3, 9 and 10; and 2 p.m. March 4 and 11. Tickets are 10 ( 8 for seniors and students). The Victorian Players Theatre is at 702 Mahoning Ave., near downtown, across from Flynn's Tires. For reservations, call (330) 746-5455.
Win prizes at play
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The New Castle Playhouse is making sure that the characters in its production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" won't be the only ones looking for a golden ticket. Six golden tickets have been affixed to Wonka Bars being sold at the Playhouse's concession bar during the current run of the play. Each person who finds a golden ticket will receive a DVD of the Johnny Depp movie version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." However, one lucky winner will win four passes to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. The passes were donated by INMETCO of Ellwood City.
"Charlie" runs through Sunday, with 7:30 p.m. showings Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday. For more information, call the Playhouse at (724) 657-9369.
