King guides Mathews to sectional game win



HUBBARD -- Sarah King scored a game-high 28 points, leading Mathews to a 54-44 victory over Southington in a Division IV girls tournament game Wednesday.
King scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, as the Mustangs pulled away from a 33-32 lead.
Jill Armentrout added 11 points for Mathews, which plays Youngstown Christian Saturday at 7:45 p.m.
Alexis Wolfe and Kaylynn Barco scored 11 points apiece for Southington.
Chagrin Falls 64, LaBrae 41
ROOTSTOWN -- Judy Stricker scored 13 points for Chagrin Falls in a Div. III sectional final.
Jen Caiola and Eylse Torrey added nine points each for the Tigers, who led 22-18 at halftime.
Angelica Pugh led LaBrae with 18 points.
West Branch 49, Marlington 27
BELOIT -- Twelve players scored in a balanced attack for West Branch in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference win.
Amanda Stiffler had eight points for the Warriors (13-8, 9-5 NBC), while Kelsey Price added seven. Michelle Sosnick and Larissa Hahn had six rebounds each for West Branch, which led 25-15 at halftime.
Marlington finished its season 6-15, 2-12, losing to West Branch Monday in a Division II sectional tournament game.
Ledgemont 52,Youngstown Christian 38
YOUNGSTOWN -- Rebekah Claypool made all eight of her free throw attempts as part of her team's final 10 points of the game -- all from the foul line -- as Ledgemont surged from a 42-38 lead to the 12-point verdict.
Claypool finished with 10 points in the regular season final for both teams, but Katelyn Prince led Ledgemont (16-4) with 23 points. Jenny Lovejoy added nine points and Stormi Rakin eight.
Vickie Bankhead had 17 points and Kara Cooper 15 to lead Youngstown Christian (15-5), while Chelsea Tate grabbed nine rebounds.
Boys
SALINEVILLE -- Tyler Baker scored 25 points, including eight in the final quarter, as Southern held off Lowellville, 71-68, in an Inter-Tri-County League regular season game.
Cody Warnock added with 13 points and Andrew Diaz 11 for the Indians.
Jeremy Gruber had 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead Lowellville (7-12, 3-11 ITCL), while Jim Sudon added 17 points and Mario Nero 14 with three 3-point goals and five assists.
And John Wilaj added nine points, including a 3-point goal down the stretch to make the outcome close.
