"American Idol" (8 p.m., Fox): The first four eliminations are announced.
"The O.C." series finale (9 p.m., Fox): At one time, several Chrismukkahs and many fistfights ago, the gang from Newport was all the rage. Those days have long passed, of course, but some of us will still feel a nostalgic need to drop by and pay our respects this week when "The O.C." bids farewell after four sudsy seasons. Will Seth and Summer end up together? Will Julie Cooper have one last scheme up her sleeve? We just hope that producer Josh Schwartz provides us with a sense of satisfying closure.
"Ghosts of Abu Ghraib" (9:30 p.m., HBO): The disturbing images of prisoner abuse that surfaced from Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison in 2004 begged the question: How could torture become an accepted practice among U.S. soldiers? Filmmaker Rory Kennedy uses interviews with detainees, soldiers and legal experts to shed light on the events and precedents, both political and legal, that culminated in the Abu Ghraib scandal.
"The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special" (10:01 p.m., ABC): America's favorite daytime talk-show host sinks her heels into Barbara Walters' turf. But instead of doing the interviews, she has Oscar winners grilling one another. Nicole Kidman sits down with fellow Aussie Russell Crowe, while Jamie Foxx chats up Sidney Poitier, and Julia Roberts faces off with George Clooney.
