YOUNGSTOWN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol will have troopers doing traffic enforcement on U.S. and state routes in the city until the end of this month, said Lt. Chris Heverly, Canfield post commander.
Heverly said Mayor Jay Williams inquired about having troopers assist city police and the approval was given last week. Between Thursday and Sunday, troopers conducted 573 stops, made 32 driving under suspensions arrests, one driving under the influence arrest and two felony drug arrests. They issued 173 citations for seat belt use and five for child restraints. Troopers also issued 247 warnings, Heverly said.
