LaBrae winner in Div. III play; Pugh scores 26



The Vikings tripped Newton Falls 52-49.
ROOTSTOWN -- Angelica Pugh scored 26 points to lead LaBrae High to a 52-49 victory over Newton Falls in a Division III sectional tournament game at Rootstown High School Monday.
Lindsey Higgins added 11 points for the Vikings (4-17), who led 32-23 at halftime.
Emily Montgomery led the Tigers (7-14) with 18 points. Kelsey McGregor added 14.
Jackson-Milton 51, Sebring 46
HUBBARD -- Alyssa Chine's 18 points spark the Bluejays (13-7) to its victory in the Div. IV sectional.
Jullian Adams added 11 and Carrie Fiol had 10 for the Bluejays.
Megan Allcorn scored 19 points to lead Sebring (7-14).
Badger 55, Leetonia 45
HUBBARD -- Badger outscored Leetonia 20-10 in the second quarter of a Div. IV game.
Rachel Doran led the Braves with 14 points, while Taylor Phillips added 13.
Leetonia's Erin Lamb led all scorers with 23 points.
West Branch 35, Marlington 34
MASSILLON -- The Warriors (13-8), ahead 28-20 by the end of the third quarter, held off a late 14-7 rally by the Dukes (6-15) to prevail in a Div. II game.
Cassi Snoddy scored 11 points to lead the Warriors.
Amanda Stiffler added nine and she grabbed six of West Branch's 22 rebounds.
Mary Snode led the Dukes with 20 points.
Regular season
POLAND -- Dahra Scullion led Salem with 15 points, as the Quakers defeated Poland, 39-26.
Brittany Richie added 10 points for Salem.
Ashley Tadla led the Bulldogs (9-11, 6-8 Metro Athletic Conference) with eight points.
South Range 45, East Palestine 43
EAST PALESTINE -- Alicia Withers made eight of nine free throws in the fourth quarter to help the Raiders overcome a nine point deficit in an ITCL make-up game.
A goal by junior Autumn Carter with 25 seconds remaining snapped a 43-43 tie.
Carter finished with a game-high 19 points for South Range. Withers added 13 points.
Logan Guy's 13 points paced East Palestine, while teammate Jesse Gamble added 10.
Boys
AUSTINTOWN -- Behind the strong showing of junior Lamar McQueen, Wilson started slow but finished fast in a 50-42 victory over Fitch.
McQueen scored 11 of his 14 points in the last quarter to lead the Redmen (8-10) who trailed 13-4 after eight minutes and were down 20-14 at the break.
A 15-point third quarter gave Wilson a 29-27 lead heading into the final period.
William Johnson also scored 14 points and added nine rebounds for Wilson.
Jon Stockman hit for 12 points and Tom DeToro had 11 for Fitch (2-17).
Springfield 56, Lisbon 42
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Todd Kibby scored 15 points, while Corey Cunningham added 11 as Springfield topped Lisbon in an Inter-Tri-County League game.
Arlan Bailey paced the Blue Devils with 17 points.
Bobby Rogers and Nate Schuler had six rebounds each for the Tigers, and Dane Dobson had seven assists.
United 65, Columbiana 62
COLUMBIANA -- A 19-9 advantage in the third quarter gave the Golden Eagles (10-9, 8-6) a 47-38 lead, and the Clippers rally in the fourth period just fell short in the Inter-Tri-County Tier 1 game.
Jimmy Phillis, who connected on 4 three-point goals, scored 22 points for United. Bryan Phillips added 13, Chris Harrison 11 and Brandon Kekel 10.
Kekel pulled down 10 rebounds. Harrison had four assists and Jordan Dickey three steals.
Cory Guy led the Clippers with 18 points and Andrew Tirpak finished with 11.
