Dental society president
Warren dentist Dr. Stephen M. Musick is the new president of Corydon Palmer Dental Society. He succeeds Dr. Phil Leone in the position.
Dr. Musick is a native of Indiana, Pa., and a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He has been in general practice in Warren for 32 years.
He has served on several committees while a member of the dental society's board of trustees and also was an alternate delegate to the Ohio Dental Association.
He is a past president of the Warren Dental Society.
Dr. James Kozlow, who practices in Poland, is the society's new president-elect. Other officers are Dr. Gregory Iaderosa of Boardman, vice president; Dr. Lee Snelson of Warren, secretary; and Dr. Thomas Gabriel, Austintown, re-elected treasurer.
The Corydon Palmer Dental Society is the local component of the Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Membership is composed of dentists from Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.
Community service award
Mercer Rotary Club presented the Dr. Bernard Hoyt Community Service Award to Bill Flannery of Venango Street.
Flannery was recognized for his 30 years of volunteer service at Brandy Springs Park. Flannery, the second recipient of the annual award, also has served as a Boy Scout leader, an umpire and a baseball coach. A monetary award was made to Brandy Springs Park in his name.
Flannery's wife, Nancy, and family members attended a dinner Dec. 21 at 1866 Restaurant, where the award was presented.
The Rotary, a service club established in Mercer in 1914 and originally in Chicago in 1905, is involved in charitable projects in Mercer. Mercer residents may nominate residents for the 2007 award. Contact Walt Johnson, club secretary, at (724) 662-2740.
