AUXILIARIES
Edith Lowden will preside at a meeting of the Eighth District VFW Auxiliary on March 11 at Firestone VFW 338 Post home, 690 W. Waterloo Road, Akron. Breakfast will be from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., registration from 7:30 to noon and a meeting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also scheduled is a memorial service at 9:40 a.m. A parade of membership transmittals will be conducted by Donna Russo of Youngstown VFW Auxiliary 3307, and Helen Edwards of Mogadore VFW 8487 Auxiliary will have a Buddy Poppy corsage contest. Members are asked to take cookies, socks and toiletries for distribution at Brecksville VA Hospital on March 17 and Easter and birthday cards for distribution at the VFW National Home for Children on Easter.
CLASSES
The Rayen School Class of 1955 will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at Denny's, 4927 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. No reservations are required.
CLUBS
Former employees of Park Vista Retirement Center will meet for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Boardman. All nursing staff and auxiliary departments are welcome. For more information call (330) 629-2133.
POLITICAL CLUBSCanfield Republican Women will meet at 11:30 a.m. March 7 for a social and luncheon at A La Cart, Canfield. Judy Sees will tell of her experiences while visiting an orphanage for disabled children and a community in Russia as a member of the To Russia With Love Group. Table decorations will be provided by Jane Kwolek and Phyllis Conroy. Guests are welcome. For reservations call (330) 533-4713.
RELIGIOUS GROUPS
Court Bishop James McFadden 1650, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Sunrise Assisted Living, 335 McKinley Way, Poland. Hostess will be Kay Kovalchik. Members are asked to take a prize for bingo, and candy-sale money is to be turned in. Anyone interested in membership should call Jean Puhalla, (330) 792-0268.
SINGLES
D.A.R.E., a social group for divorced, widowed or separated people, meets at 7:30 p.m. each Thursday at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road. Other activities include: Monday, meet at food court at 6:30 p.m. for a walk in the mall; Tuesday and Wednesday, dance lessons with Judy Conti at 7 p.m. at Wedgewood Plaza, cost is 5; Thursday, Rich Chase will speak on financial issues at 7:30 p.m. at the church; and Feb. 23, cheap movies at 6:30 p.m. at Boardman.
