LINCOLN DAY DINNER: The Colum-biana County Republican Party's Lincoln Day Dinner is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Elks Lodge Banquet Hall at 824 E. State St. in Salem.
The keynote speaker is Michael Zak of Washington, D.C., who wrote and published the book, "Back to Basics for the Republican Party."
Tickets for the event are 25 each, and Zak's book is available for 20. To make a reservation, call Karen Tarves at (330) 233-1511.
Filing deadline: Thursday is the filing deadline for candidates running in the May 8 partisan primary race. There are a number of mayoral positions up for election, including Warren, Struthers, Poland, Niles, Girard, Hubbard, McDonald, Salem, Lordstown, Newton Falls, Lisbon, East Liverpool and Wellsville.
