Area court judges want details on jail deal

YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Area Court judges say they lack details about the pending jail-occupancy agreement and want to meet with Prosecutor Paul J. Gains, this weekend if possible.

Judge Scott D. Hunter, administrative/presiding judge for the area courts, sent a letter to Gains asking that a meeting take place before Wednesday. In the letter, Judge Hunter said he and his colleagues want to meet as soon as possible, be it this weekend or Monday, a court-observed holiday.

County commissioners have approved the agreement and city council will consider it on Wednesday. The agreement guarantees jail space to Youngstown Municipal Court prisoners.
