Storm effects still being felt


More than a dozen area school districts and numerous private organizations, churches and social programs are still feeling the effects of the storm that dumped more than a foot of snow across the region Tuesday and Wednesday.

Beaver, Bloomfield-Mespo, Bristol, Crestview, East Liverpool, East Palestine, McDonald, Niles, Southern, Southington, Warren, Weathersfield and West Middlesex schools all remained closed today, as were the Fairhaven Workshnop and day classes at Trumbull Career and Technical Center, according to area school closing Web sites.

A number of preschools programs and some charter schools were closed as well.

Government offices reopened this morning as did most libraries that were closed Wednesday, inclduing the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.

Some bingo games and church and organizational dinners were canceled.

A National Weather Service wind chill advisory was in effect this morning for Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer and Lawrence counties.
