Snow plow drivers log long hours

GIRARD — Road crews wage an epic battle between mother nature and the driving public.

Girard’s road superintendent Kenny Moran is a 26-year road department veteran. He heads out in a large plow truck, followed by a second plow truck of equal size.

Moran’s truck pushes snow from the middle of the road half the distance to the curb. The second truck finishes pushing the piles of snow to the curb.

After working 18 hours Tuesday and already more than 10 hours by the time he starts work on the city’s side streets Wednesday, Moran is careful where he places the truck’s plowing device.

Staff writer John Goodwin rode with the crew on Wednesday, and his complete story is in Thursday's Vindicator and on Vindy.com
