Bethany 76, Saint Vincent 73
BETHANY, W. Va. -- James Wallace scored 18 points and Marc Palermo (Ursuline) added 15, leading Bethany over Saint Vincent.
Wallace was 6-of-10 from the field and also shared team-high rebounding honors with Brody Jackson (seven) as the Bison improved to 18-6.Bethany will play at Westminster Saturday at 4 p.m. for the top seed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament. Jackson and Joe Testa added 10 points apiece for the Bison, and Chris Stephens had five assists. Javille Brooks scored 19 points to lead Saint Vincent, which was tied at 29-all at halftime. Tre'sor Kalambay added 13 points for Saint Vincent, while Jim Ewing and Marc Duncan scored 12 points each.
Indiana (Pa.) 47, Slippery Rock 44
INDIANA, Pa. -- Jamar Scales led Slippery Rock with 14 points, but his basket with 5:45 remaining was The Rock's last of the game, and IUP finished the game with a 10-1 run. Glenn Reepmeyer had 11 rebounds for Slippery Rock (5-19, 2-7 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West), but he was held to just four points. The Rock had just nine assists and 19 turnovers. IUP (6-17, 3-6) was led by Gerald Brooks with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Jordan Shaw with 12 points.
WOMEN
Indiana (Pa.) 94, Slippery Rock 65
INDIANA, Pa. -- Regionally ranked IUP exercised its muscle as it rolled to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West win over The Rock. SRU scored the first two points of the game, but quickly found itself down by 10 points as IUP responded with a 19-2 run. The Rock never trailed by less than 10 points in the final 36-plus minutes of action. The Crimson Hawks (18-6, 8-1) shot 56.3 percent (18-of-32) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes en route to a 20-point (49-29) lead at halftime, then shot 54.5 percent (18-of-33) in the final half to finish with a 55.4 percent efficiency. The Rock (9-14, 3-6) shot a respectable 41.9 percent (13-of-31) of its first-half shots before it cooled off to a 38.2 percent (13-of-24) efficiency in the final half and finished with at 40 percent. Amanda Nero (Lowellville) scored a team-high 15 points for The Rock, while Chere' Marshall added 13 points and Jessica Schake contributed eight points. Nijha McNeely had a team-best five rebounds for SRU.
Saint Vincent 73, Bethany 72
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Laura Klimchock made two free throws with 14 seconds remaining, completing Saint Vincent's comeback from an eight-point halftime deficit. Klimchock finished with 24 points -- she made 12-of-15 at the foul line -- as Saint Vincent improved to 10-12. Janelle Reed added 16 points and five rebounds. Klimchock also led the team with five assists. Bethany (8-16) was led by Courtney Irwin with 14 points and Lisa Mitchell with 12. Kaitlyn McCormick scored 12 and Renee Brandenburg added 10 points and seven rebounds. Irwin also had seven rebounds and Nicole Thompson had six assists for the Bison, who led 36-28 at halftime.
