Surowiec 50th celebrated in Bradenton, Fla.



BRADENTON, Fla. -- Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., will be the setting Feb. 15 for a dinner party to honor Mr. and Mrs. John Surowiec, 12212 Winding Wood Way, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the celebration will be the couple's children and their spouses, Sharlene and Ron Zwing of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Julie Nemeth of Mansfield, Texas; Larry Surowiec of Lewis Center; and John and Angelina Surowiec of Clearwater, Fla.; and their seven grandchildren.
The former Shirley Ann Ritz and Mr. Surowiec were married Feb. 16, 1957, at the Chapel of Friendly Bells in Youngstown.
Mrs. Surowiec was employed for 13 years at Colonial Hair Design in Boardman, was an officer with the PTA at Boardman Schools, and retired in 2000 from Upper Cut Hair Salon in Brandon, Fla. She is the manager of Heaven Cent Thrift Shop, a director of Lakewood Ranch Homeowners, a member of Braden River United Methodist Church in Bradenton, and a member of Lakewood Ranch Empty Nesters.
Mr. Surowiec served with the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 in Korea and Japan and coached pee-wee football and baseball in Boardman. He was the owner/barber of John's Barber Shop on Glenwood Avenue and West Boulevard for 28 years and retired in 1998 from the U.S. Postal Service.
